The hacker group Anonymous provided details on their attempt to temporarily blackout the internet. They provide readers with instructions on how to obtain a custom “Reflective DNS Amplification DDoS tool” that was created for the purpose of taking down the global DNS servers. The intent of the hack is:
To protest SOPA, Wallstreet, our irresponsible leaders and the beloved bankers who are starving the world for their own selfish needs out of sheer sadistic fun, On March 31, [2012] anonymous will shut the Internet down.
I believe that Anonymous hacks are seen by the “suits” as attacks on National Security. But, aren’t all actions that aren’t inline with our government seen as threats to National Security? Since the horrific days of 9/11, the United States government seems to twist words and ideologies to fit the needs of a highly restrictive government. While I don’t agree with their methods, Anonymous has managed to garner global attention to actions that would support the greater good.
