A company called Blue Marble Brand has taken the next fad of advertising, QR codes, and gone 1 step further. The image below shows how the company has transformed a rooftop into a billboard, viewable only from space or aircraft. The idea is that the QR codes will be displayed on your web browser when you are casually browsing from Google Maps or similar web application. The “space-accessible billboard” then provides a dynamic link that yields results based on location, time of day or any specialty offer that the customer desires.
The only major issue with space billboards is that there is a huge lag time between the placement of your QR code and when it will show up in a mapping application. It could take a year or more for updated satellite data to find its way to your browser. Implementing a QR code on your rooftop will cost you “$8,500 and a recurring $200 support fee, which includes QR code production, site installation, content strategy consulting, satellite or aerial image capture and monthly access to a mobile content management and behavioral analytics platform that delivers real-time data to the customer on scans and usage.”
